About Sotogrande
Sotogrande is often described as the ‘playground of the global elite’ due to relaxed lifestyle, proximity to the coast and access to leisure activities including golf, polo, sailing and a multitude of private clubs and restaurants. It has gained a global reputation for matching Marbella’s level of luxury in a more understated way. Since the 1960s, this region on Spain’s south coast has welcomed residents from all over the world drawn by 300 days of sunshine a year, immense natural beauty, subtle luxury and high-quality luxury villas and apartments.
Privately-owned paradise
Sotogrande is the largest privately owned residential development in Andalusia. Residents and visitors own or rent luxury villas and apartments here. Originally a gated community, it is located in the Spanish municipality of San Roque, just 40 minutes from Marbella, Malaga. It is a 25km area of natural beauty that spans a stretch of sandy Mediterranean shoreline back into the foothills of Sierra Almenara providing changing views of the sea, hills, cork forests and green fairways, including the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco.
Sports and leisure
Sotogrande has a number of world-standard sporting facilities. It has five golf courses, including Real Sotogrande Golf Club and Valderrama Golf Club, which was host to the European Tour's Volvo Masters and the 1997 Ryder Cup. Sotogrande has an established profile amongst the world’s tennis elite and padel communities. The new La Reserva Club’s Tennis Academy offers tailor-made training programmes too. Its location alongside the Spanish coast makes Sotogrande the perfect place to take part in water sports including kayaking, kitesufurfing and windsurfing. Sailing is also popular amongst residents and visitors alike. The residential estate benefits from a rugby club, the famous Santa Maria Polo Club and Polo Valley clubs for those that enjoy horse riding or year-round grass polo.
Iconic Marina
Sotogrande is home of a vibrant community of sailing enthusiasts due to its state-of-the-art marina. Built in the 1990s, it includes over 834 berths for boats of all sizes. Many of the apartments and townhouses come with their own berth and can accommodate sailing boats and luxury yachts. The marina itself is the epitope of place making and is a destination for the Sotogrande residents due to a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants.
